
Volunteer Social Media Manager
Reports to: Crystal Awards Gala Chairs
Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (August–May, with increased time in peak months)
Duration: Until event completion
Overview:
As the Social Media Volunteer for the AMA Houston Crystal Awards Gala, you will be the digital voice of our event—responsible for planning and executing a vibrant social media presence across platforms. From highlighting past winners and sponsors to building buzz around our 40th Anniversary celebration, you’ll help drive awareness, engagement, and attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a content calendar for all platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X/Twitter)
- Create and schedule posts that highlight sponsors, award categories, deadlines, and event milestones
- Coordinate with graphic design volunteers to ensure visually cohesive content
- Engage with followers by responding to comments, reposting stories/posts, and using relevant hashtags
- Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to improve performance
- Collaborate with the email and PR team to align messaging
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience managing brand or event social media accounts
- Strong writing and storytelling skills
- Understanding of social media trends, platforms, and engagement strategies
- Basic design skills (Canva) or ability to work with design team
- Organized, creative, and collaborative
