Volunteer Social Media Manager

Reports to: Crystal Awards Gala Chairs
Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week (August–May, with increased time in peak months)
Duration: Until event completion 

Overview:
As the Social Media Volunteer for the AMA Houston Crystal Awards Gala, you will be the digital voice of our event—responsible for planning and executing a vibrant social media presence across platforms. From highlighting past winners and sponsors to building buzz around our 40th Anniversary celebration, you’ll help drive awareness, engagement, and attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a content calendar for all platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X/Twitter)
  • Create and schedule posts that highlight sponsors, award categories, deadlines, and event milestones
  • Coordinate with graphic design volunteers to ensure visually cohesive content
  • Engage with followers by responding to comments, reposting stories/posts, and using relevant hashtags
  • Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to improve performance
  • Collaborate with the email and PR team to align messaging

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience managing brand or event social media accounts
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Understanding of social media trends, platforms, and engagement strategies
  • Basic design skills (Canva) or ability to work with design team
  • Organized, creative, and collaborative
